About
... As fate would have it, back in '08, Laura spotted a dashing stray bounding through Berkeley traffic (the boy above). She ushered him to safety; he swiftly charmed his way into her heart and home. This godlike creature put her on the path to a dog-centric life.
Upon earning her master's, Laura sidestepped the chance to complete fieldwork overseas, opting to surround herself with dogs stateside. She launched an outings and boarding service, Town Dawg, in Oakland in '12, After several years and a move up to Washington, she apprenticed as a dog trainer and group class instructor at Riverdog K9 Coaching (now Jax Dog Drop) in Issaquah. In '18, Laura started teaching and training at Seattle Puppyworks (now closed) and Seattle Humane, where she currently teaches dog training basics virtually. As of March '20, her in-person classes have been on hiatus while she shares her days with canines mostly from home. In everything, including ecodogrollcall.org (a passion project about conservation), Laura remains dog motivated. |
Together with her husband, Jacob, Laura is devoted to an 8.5-year-old Chihuahua mix (Talula) and a 1.5-year-old Pomeranian mix (Theo). They also share infinite love for Bhalu, Tuk Tuk, and Chaska, who crossed over the 'rainbow bridge' in '21, '22, and '23. Talula and Theo inspire ongoing forays into frontiers of dogdom for the sake of their lifelong learning and enrichment. They're the soulful center of this home-away-from-home for 'fur fam' near Tiger Mountain State Forest, not far from Olde Town Issaquah.
